This paper summarises the match statistics for Oxfordshire's county matches in the 2007-2008 season. This is the sixth year with this style of ranking tables. They do not, of course, measure the quality of anyone's bridge. But they do measure how successful it was!
The Tollemache qualifier is included for the fourth time as an extra A-team match.
Tollemache Qualifier (Nov 24th/25th 2007): score 99/160 VP, rank 3/9 in our group (2nd=102VP).

League match Butler scores were derived by imping against the "datum" score (the average of the ten scores remaining after discarding two extremes). Tollemache scores are the Butler swings computed by the EBU across our qualifying group, scaled down to match the length of a league match.

Butler IMP scores were doubled and converted to scores out of 20 on the county match VP scale. [Thus your score is what the match result in VP would have been if your results had been matched by the other pair with the same cards as you whilst everyone else produced datum scores.]
Note that each match carries equal weight. You can't carry over surplus IMP into other matches, and you get a better ranking for going, say +20, +20 than for +40, 0. Just like in real life!
The Tollemache qualifier is again included as an extra A-team match, as suggested by Alan Wilson. Since 2006 we are able to use Butler imps computed by the EBU across our qualifying group, multiplying the swing per board by 32, the length of a league match. [In previous years we used only each pair's IMP swing per board per table, less accurate since so few tables were considered.]
